Biography:

Stanley Clarke and George Duke first met at a Jazz Festival in Pori / Finland in the early 1970s. Stanley Clarke was touring with Chick Corea and George Duke was thrilled by their performance. An intense musical relationship was about to develop. In 1981 they joined for the first time and formed the Clarke/Duke Project. Duke wrote and produced the single "Sweet Baby" for the project and they scored a top-twenty pop hit with it. The album was simply called 'Clarke/Duke Project'. Both musicians were involved in several other projects and always continued with their solo careers but they met from time to time for a tour or for another album. 'Clarke/Duke Project 2 - Guardian Of The Light' was released in 1983, 'Clarke/Duke Project 3' in 1990. The beginning of 1996 saw the release of the musical and emotional tour de force Muir Woods Suite, which was performed by a jazz quartet made up of George Duke (piano), Stanley Clarke (bass), Chester Thompson (drums) and Paulinho Da Costa (percussion) with L'orchestre National de Lille, Ettore Stratta, conductor. In 2002, Stanley Clarke and George Duke worked together on Eddie Griffin's movie "Undercover Brother".
